The first home playoff game
The Philadelphia 76ers recently took on the New York Knicks in the first round of the 2024 NBA schedule. The first game was held on April 20th, 2024, at Madison Square Garden.
The Knicks beat the 76ers 111 to 104 in the first game of the Eastern Conference. Brunson and Josh Hart scored 22 points, but Deuce McBride helped the Knicks outscore the 76ers 33-12 in the second quarter. The Sixers lost because they were outscored by 21 points in the 11 minutes that Joel Embiid was not on the court. This was due to problems with his left knee on which he had surgery in February. Tyrese Maxey led the 76ers with 33 points.
The 76ers will have to go and watch the film to understand what they need to do better. There are still six games in the seven-game series. The 76s played without Embiid for two months in the regular season but forward Nicholas Batum said it can be challenging to adjust between styles when playing with or without him. The Sixers coach Nick Nurse says Embiid felt ‘pretty good’ after the first game.
There is room for both collective and individual improvement in the team. The team still has plenty of opportunity to show that they have learned from the first loss.
